Seeds of Encephalartos natalensis. The Natal Giant Cycad is an arborescent species which can grow to over six meters tall, often branched from the base. The species grows in rocky habitats on kranzes and cliffs and in steep sided valleys in inland areas of the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal. This is a Near Threatened species, sought after by collectors. These seeds were found below a large specimen growing in a Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife reserve where it was planted after being confiscated.
